Travelogue: About

On this blog we collect findings of our research while working on the project Cultural Spaces and Design. In our project we focus on the impact processes of globalisation have on design and design education. We develop tools and modules for design education, that make visible the cultural differences in the perception, the means and objectives of design, in the methodological approaches used, in the implicit design cultures that are conveyed etc.

One task of the project is to make design students’ stays abroad a subject of design education, may it be for a project work, an internship or a semester abroad. In order to do so we develop the Travel Kit to support students to reflect on the cultural implications of their perspective and working methods. While doing so we collect literature, methods, students’ travel documentations, projects and related works in art and design. Here we present our findings to invite new ways of opening, perceiving and designing cultural spaces – may they to be found on the other side of the world, in the neighbourhood, in one’s own draft or project or even on one’s own identity.
